The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has stirred reactions after making a cryptic statement about Nigeria and the church’s annual fasting programme. Speaking during a church service captured in a recent YouTube video, Adeboye said he intentionally avoided discussing national issues at length, stressing that prayer remains the ultimate solution in difficult times. He then revealed that the widely expected January 11 start date for RCCG’s fasting would not happen. “If we’re going to fast, we won’t begin on January 11. They are waiting for us—we will disappoint them,” he said, adding that the duration of the fast would also be kept secret. Adeboye urged members to remain consistent in prayer and declared divine surprises and blessings over worshippers, assuring them that God would intervene swiftly.

Communities in Agwara local government area of Niger state were thrown into mourning on Thursday as bandits suspected to be those fleeing from the ongoing military operations in part of Kwara state slaughtered two people in their homes.  Also, over 15 houses were set ablaze by the bandits who invaded Gebbe and Goro, border communities between Agwara and Borgu local government areas of the state. A source close to the two communities told our Correspondent on phone Friday that the Gunmen arrived the communities in their numbers and all riding on motorcycles with each carrying about two to three people. Joshua was visibly emotional during the visit, spending time in quiet reflection as arrangements were concluded for the repatriation of the bodies to the UK for burial.
