DUKOBO SAYS HE WOULD STAND FIRM IN SUPPORT OF HIS RELIGION DESPITE TRUMP THREATS

In a recent video shared on Facebook on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Niger Delta leader and Kalabari chieftain, Asari Dokubo, reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks about intervening in Nigeria over the security situation. Dokubo dismissed any notion that Nigerians would be intimidated by foreign threats, particularly in matters affecting their sovereignty or religious communities.

According to Dokubo, “The Muslims of this country are not afraid of them; I will stand firm and defend our side.” He stressed that Nigerians, regardless of religion, are capable of defending themselves and determining how to handle their domestic challenges without external interference

Dokubo criticized citizens who celebrated Trump’s statements, describing such reactions as both naive and dangerous. He highlighted that American military interventions in other countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Gaza, have historically caused more devastation than solutions, warning that allowing foreign powers to dictate Nigeria’s security approach would worsen, rather than resolve, national problems.

The activist urged Nigerian leaders and citizens to focus on homegrown solutions to insecurity, emphasizing the need for unity across ethnic and religious lines. He warned that relying on foreign powers would not only compromise sovereignty but also embolden those seeking to destabilize the nation.

Dokubo further stated that Nigerians must depend on their own institutions, courage, and collective action to secure peace and stability, insisting that no foreign leader has the right to dictate how Nigeria handles its internal affairs.
