China Puts Its Products Into Households Around the World While America Fights Wars

Image
In a global economy deeply shaped by trade and innovation, China’s manufacturing and export machine has become one of the most pervasive forces worldwide — putting products into billions of homes even as the United States allocates significant resources to national defense and international security. In 2024, China’s foreign trade reached a record $6.1 trillion in exports and imports, with total exports alone climbing more than 7 percent year-on-year to around $3.6 trillion — making China the largest exporter of goods in the world. China now accounts for about 14.6 percent of global exports, surpassing competitors and cementing its role in global supply chains. Chinese manufactured products — from electronics and home appliances to machinery and consumer goods — are found in homes across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.  Chinese export strength isn’t limited to basic items. In 2024, China’s home appliance sector alone reported a $128 billion export value, illustrating how ev...

MAGA-Linked Company Accused of Using Visitor Visas to Import Labor Into the U.S.

Image
A U.S. company owned by prominent supporters of the “Make America Great Again” movement is facing growing scrutiny after reports alleged it brought immigrant workers into the country using B-1 business and visitor visas, which are not intended for long-term or routine employment. The company at the center of the controversy, Uline, is a major supplier of packaging and industrial materials with large warehouse operations across the United States. According to reported accounts, the firm allegedly operated a program internally referred to as “shuttle support,” flying workers from outside the country to assist at U.S. facilities for extended periods. Immigration and labor experts say B-1 visas are designed for short-term business activities such as meetings, training, or consultations—not for regular warehouse or production work. Critics argue that using these visas for ongoing labor could violate federal immigration rules and potentially give companies an unfair advantage by bypassing st...

Iran’s Nuclear Standoff Reaches a Critical Moment as U.S. Talks Near

Image
As diplomatic talks draw closer, tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program have once again moved to the forefront of global and American security concerns. The issue, decades in the making, now sits at a decisive crossroads that could shape Middle East stability and U.S. foreign policy for years to come. Concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions first intensified in the early 2000s after undeclared nuclear facilities were revealed, raising alarms about uranium enrichment beyond civilian energy needs. Years of international pressure and sanctions followed, culminating in a landmark nuclear agreement in 2015 that placed strict limits on Iran’s enrichment levels in exchange for economic relief and international oversight. That fragile balance collapsed in 2018 when the United States withdrew from the deal, arguing it failed to permanently block Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon. In response, Tehran gradually scaled back its commitments, increasing enrichment levels and limiting interna...

Virginia gov counters Trump’s state of the union claims

Image
Virginia Governor, Abigail Spanberger, delivered the Democratic Party’s response Tuesday night following President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, posing a series of direct questions to Americans about their economic and social wellbeing. Trump spoke to a joint session of Congress Tuesday, outlining his policy priorities, including immigration enforcement, federal spending cuts, maintaining tariffs struck down by the Supreme Court and recent military actions abroad. Soon after, Spanberger offered the official Democratic rebuttal from Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, a living history museum with restored 18th-century buildings, drawing on the site’s role at the heart of Virginia’s early opposition to British rule and connecting that legacy to the current political moment Trump was slated to champion his immigration crackdowns, his slashing of the federal government, his push to preserve widespread tariffs that the Supreme Court just struck down and his ability t...

Trump pushes presidency reset in record 108-minutes speech to congress.

Image
US President Donald Trump boasted Tuesday of a “turnaround for the ages” in a State of the Union speech, seeking to reverse his dismal polls and see off mounting challenges at home and abroad ahead of crucial midterm elections. Addressing a joint session of Congress, Trump met repeated standing ovations from Republicans, while Democrats remained seated in protest — and sometimes heckled. The speech lasted for one hour and forty-eight minutes breaking his own earlier record from last year. PBS reports that Trump’s 108-minute speech broke his own record for longest presidential address to Congress. US Representative Al Green, Democratic from Texas, exits as House Republicans try to grab a sign he is holding reading “Black people aren’t apes” as US President Donald Trump delivers the State of the Union address in the House Chamber of the US Capitol in Washington, DC, on February 24, 2026. The prior record was his own 100-minute speech last year. Before 2025, President Bill Cli...

Mayweather to fight Pacquiao in Las Vegas in September

Image
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will meet in a long-awaited rematch of the highest-grossing clash in boxing history this September at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Netflix announced Monday. The bout between two of boxing’s biggest names — who famously fought a blockbuster clash in 2015, and are now both in their late forties — comes days after Mayweather announced he is coming out of retirement. It will be broadcast live on September 19 on Netflix, as the global streaming platform increasingly moves into live sports with glitzy one-off events. “Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough — they deserve this rematch,” said Pacquiao, 47, in a joint statement. Mayweather beat fellow welterweight Pacquiao in their money-spinning 2015 “Fight of the Century,” which generated a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys but largely failed to live up to the hype. Mayweather is believed to have earned an estimated $300 milli...

UK: New passport rule may deny foreign-born children entry

Image
By Nkiruka Nnorom with agency report British children born overseas could be denied entry to the UK from next week following a change in passport rules. Under the new rule, which takes effect from February 25, British dual citizens will have to present a British passport when travelling to the UK, or obtain a “certificate of entitlement” valued at £589. Anyone born overseas to a British parent automatically qualifies for dual citizenship. They cannot renounce it until they turn 18, which means they must either obtain a British passport or pay a £589 fee for a “certificate of entitlement” to travel to the UK. Unlike foreign citizens, they cannot simply travel to the UK by applying for an electronic travel authorisation, ETA, the new visa-waiver scheme that allows foreigners to visit the UK for up to six months for £16. The new rule, according to the Home Office, applies to children and babies, even if they are traveling with a parent who has a British passport. It warned tha...

Image
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit Israel on February 28, where he will hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program. According to U.S. officials, Rubio’s visit will focus on briefing the Israeli government on the latest developments in U.S.–Iran diplomatic negotiations, as well as Washington’s broader strategy toward Tehran. The discussions are expected to cover Iran’s uranium enrichment activities, regional security threats, and coordination between the United States and Israel should diplomacy fail. The trip comes at a critical moment, as the United States weighs both diplomatic and military options in response to Iran’s nuclear advances. U.S. officials say the visit underscores America’s commitment to close coordination with Israel on national security and Middle East stability. Rubio is also expected to reaffirm U.S. support for Israel’s security during the visit.

Image
Washington, D.C. — The United States military is reported to be fully prepared for potential strikes against Iran as early as this weekend, though President Donald Trump has not yet authorized any military action, according to senior U.S. defense and administration officials. The development marks a significant escalation in tensions between United States and Iran, following weeks of stalled nuclear negotiations and increased military activity across the Middle East. Military Options Ready, Decision Still Pending Pentagon officials confirm that strike plans have been finalized and forces are in position, but emphasize that no final order has been given. The White House says the president is continuing consultations with national security advisers, weighing military action against diplomatic and economic consequences. AMERICA TODAY IN WORLDVIEW: Still USA or DSA?

Image
The world is watching America—and the verdict is conflicted. What once stood tall as the United States of America (USA) is now, in many global conversations, whispered as the Divided States of America (DSA). Not because America has lost its power, but because it appears to have lost its pause, its patience, and its political peace. From Europe to Africa, from Asia to Latin America, the global gaze no longer studies America for unity—it studies America for fracture. This is not about how Americans see themselves. Nations often misunderstand their own reflection. This is about how the world now sees America: polarized, combustible, ideologically barricaded, and locked in a permanent political cold war between Democrats and Republicans. A Nation Speaking in Two Voices To the outside world, America increasingly speaks in two incompatible tongues. One nation, two realities. One flag, two meanings. One constitution, endlessly contested. Democrats and Republicans no longer merely disagr...

Genocide accusations: US Congress panels hold new session on Nigeria today

Image
Witnesses appearing before the United States Congress Foreign Affairs Committee have cautioned that Nigeria is at risk of descending into widespread Christian–Muslim violence, identifying the country as a major flashpoint in an escalating global crisis of religious freedom. The warning is contained in written testimonies released ahead of the joint hearing of the committee, which is holding on Wednesday (today), with witnesses citing recurring killings, displacement and insecurity as indicators of an emerging broader religious conflict in Nigeria. The hearing will be jointly convened by the House Subcommittee on Africa and the Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere to assess what US lawmakers describe as mounting threats to religious freedom worldwide. It is titled, ‘Defending Religious Freedom Around the World.’ Written testimonies by key witnesses were released on the committee’s website ahead of the session and are expected to be delivered when the hearing convenes.
