Iran Holds Mass Funeral for School Attack Victims.

Iran has held a mass funeral for 165 schoolgirls and staff who were killed in an attack on a girls’ school in the southern city of Minab. The strike occurred on the first day of joint U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran and has been described by Tehran as the deadliest incident in the campaign so far. Iranian officials and citizens have expressed deep grief and outrage over the loss of young lives.

The Israeli military has stated that it is not aware of any U.S. or Israeli attacks in the Minab area. However, critics point to a history of Israel denying responsibility for civilian casualties during military campaigns, only to later acknowledge evidence of such incidents. The Minab strike has drawn international condemnation, including from UNESCO and Nobel Peace Prize-winning education activist Malala Yousafzai. Deliberately targeting schools, hospitals, or other civilian institutions constitutes a war crime under international humanitarian law.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman  Esmaeil Baghaei stated that U.S. and Israeli forces “continue to indiscriminately strike residential areas, sparing neither hospitals, schools, Red Crescent facilities, nor cultural monuments.” The comments underscore Tehran’s insistence that the attacks violate international norms and highlight growing concerns over civilian safety amid the escalating conflict.
