Tinubu Moves Safety Investigation Bureau to the Presidency
President Bola Tinubu has approved the relocation of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) from the Ministry of Aviation to the Presidency. The decision reportedly overruled earlier administrative arrangements within the aviation ministry.
Government officials say the move is intended to strengthen the independence of accident investigations in aviation, maritime, and rail sectors. It also places the bureau closer to the presidency for quicker policy coordination and implementation.
Analysts believe the change may improve transparency in transportation accident investigations and help Nigeria align with global safety standards.
