When They Returned In The Morning Hours, They Took Away The Dead Bodies Of Their People - Bagobiri

According to a report by The Sun on Sunday, December 28, 2025, a violent clash erupted on Saturday night between military-led security forces and armed bandits in BaKaji and Unguwar Garma, located in the Goron Dutse area of Shanono Local Government Area in Kano State.
The confrontation left nine bandits and one member of a local vigilance group injured.
The incident occurred around midnight when the heavily armed bandits attempted to raid the communities but were met with strong resistance from security personnel stationed in the area.
According to witnesses, the bandits engaged the military in a prolonged gun duel that lasted several hours.
The attackers reportedly arrived in large numbers, aiming to carry out a coordinated assault on the local population.
Residents said the sound of gunfire and chaos forced people to remain indoors, while the security forces worked to prevent the bandits from causing widespread destruction.
Yahya Bagobiri, Chairman of the Shanono/Bagwai Community Security Forum, spoke to journalists about the aftermath of the attack.
He explained that the bandits returned during the early hours of Sunday to recover the bodies of those who were killed during the confrontation.
Bagobiri emphasised that the action demonstrated the determination of the attackers to recover their members, even after suffering losses during the initial raid.
Bagobiri praised the military for their swift and effective response to the threat.
He said that their presence and coordination prevented the bandits from inflicting more serious harm on residents and their properties.
According to him, without the intervention of the security forces, the consequences of the raid could have been far worse, highlighting the crucial role of security personnel in protecting vulnerable communities.
He said, “When they returned in the morning hours, they took away the dead bodies of their people who were killed. Let me commend the military who safeguarded the area and ensured that they stopped the bandits from causing any serious havoc. They deserve huge appreciation, because at that time, nobody could even come out from his home.”
