Iran declares 40 days of mourning after death of Ali Khamenei.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has passed away after a joint US-Israeli attack on Iranian territory. The 86-year-old cleric was killed in a strike on his office in Tehran, with reports suggesting his family members, including a daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild, were also killed .

The attack has sparked widespread reactions, with Iran's Supreme National Security Council describing Khamenei's killing as "martyrdom" and blaming Washington and Tel Aviv for the act. In response, Iran has launched missiles and drones towards Israel and US military bases in Gulf Arab states, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

Khamenei's death marks a significant turning point for Iran, removing the central pillar of its political structure. The supreme leader held ultimate authority over strategic decisions, commanding the armed forces, and appointing key judicial and media figures. The succession process is now uncertain, with the Assembly of Experts responsible for appointing a new leader.

The international community is bracing for potential escalation, with US President Donald Trump stating the operation aimed to degrade Iran's military capabilities and leadership structure. Israeli officials echoed this justification, citing imminent threats .

Iran has declared 40 days of public mourning and seven days of national holiday. The state's narrative presents Khamenei as a martyr of the revolution, with thousands gathering in Tehran to mourn his death .

  British Nigerian boxer and former heavyweight champion,  Anthony Joshua   was involved in a road accident on Monday 29th December along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, Nigeria  Gbenga Omotosho, Lagos commissioner for information, said the crash occurred around the Shagamu interchange area of the highway. He added that the Lagos state government promptly deployed an ambulance to the scene. The Lexus SUV in which the British Nigerian boxer was said to have crashed into a stationary truck parked by the roadside. Two people driving with him in the car died on the spot according to eye witness. AJ was said to have survived with minor injuries.
