Nigerian Army Kills 45 Militants in Katsina
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed at least 45 suspected bandits during a fierce gun battle in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. The clash occurred after armed men attempted to steal cattle from local communities, prompting security forces to launch a counter-operation against them.
Officials said the attackers later returned in large numbers in what appeared to be a revenge attempt against security forces and residents. However, the military engaged the gunmen in a prolonged firefight, eventually overpowering them and killing dozens of the militants.
Authorities described the operation as a major success in the ongoing fight against banditry in Nigeria’s northwest. Despite repeated military offensives, armed groups involved in kidnapping, cattle rustling, and village raids continue to pose a major security challenge across several northern states.
