Petrol price may hit N1,000 as Middle East crisis escalates.

Petrol prices in Nigeria might hit N1,072 per litre due to the escalating Middle East conflict pushing crude oil prices towards $100 per barrel. Brent Crude has already surged to around $80 per barrel, with analysts predicting it could hit $100 if tensions worsen.

This conflict is a double-edged sword for Nigeria's economy: while higher crude oil prices could boost revenue, they'll also lead to increased fuel prices.

Experts warn that Nigeria's reliance on imported refined products makes it vulnerable to international price volatility. Dr. Adeola Yusuf calls for an end to the conflict, citing its far-reaching economic impacts. Dr. Muda Yusuf notes that geopolitical tensions historically trigger sharp crude oil price increases due to supply disruption fears.

The situation is fluid, with OPEC+ announcing a production increase, but analysts warn that disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz could push prices higher.
