PROFESSOR OMOTAYO JOSEPH OYENIYI EMERGES NEW DEAN, FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES‎


‎Professor Omotayo Joseph OYENIYI of the Department of Marketing has been elected as the new Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Lagos State University.
‎
‎The election was held on Monday, 16th March 2026, at the Faculty of Management Sciences' Seminar Room, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

Professor Oyeniyi secured seventy-seven (77) votes to defeat Professor M. A ABATA of the Department of Accounting, who garnered thirty-four (34) votes. Two (2) votes were declared void.

‎Announcing the results, the Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Dr Olugbenga ODUYOMI, disclosed that a total of one hundred and fourteen (114) voters were accredited for the election.
‎
‎The outgoing Dean, Professor Akanji BANKOLE of the Department of Industrial Relation and Personnel Management, will complete his tenure on Sunday, 22nd March 2026. 

Professor Oyeniyi is scheduled to assume office on Monday, 23rd March 2026

‎At the conclusion of the election, Professor Bankole congratulated the Dean-designate and wished him a successful and impactful tenure. He also expressed appreciation to members of the Faculty for their support throughout his time in office.

BREAKING: Anthony Joshua Involved In Road Crash In Nigeria. Two Lives Lost.

  British Nigerian boxer and former heavyweight champion,  Anthony Joshua   was involved in a road accident on Monday 29th December along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, Nigeria  Gbenga Omotosho, Lagos commissioner for information, said the crash occurred around the Shagamu interchange area of the highway. He added that the Lagos state government promptly deployed an ambulance to the scene. The Lexus SUV in which the British Nigerian boxer was said to have crashed into a stationary truck parked by the roadside. Two people driving with him in the car died on the spot according to eye witness. AJ was said to have survived with minor injuries.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government over reports that it approved a $9 million contract for lobbying services in the United States, describing the move as scandalous, indefensible and a reflection of misplaced priorities. In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party said the Tinubu administration was more concerned with polishing its international image than addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
