LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP.

The Kingdom of Emberfall

Far beyond the Burning Peaks and the Scarlet Sea stood the mighty Kingdom of Emberfall, a land where dragons once soared across crimson skies and giant lanterns floated through the night like drifting stars.

In a small village near the edge of the kingdom lived a teenage stable boy named Rowan. He dreamed of becoming a royal knight, famous throughout the realm for brave adventures and daring victories.

But Rowan had one dangerous habit — he acted before thinking.

“If you wait too long,” he always said, “someone else takes your chance.”

One stormy evening, a royal messenger rode into the village carrying urgent news.

“The king’s Moonstone has been stolen,” he announced. “Whoever returns it will earn gold, honor, and a place among the royal guard.”

Without asking a single question, Rowan grabbed his cloak.

“I’ll bring it back before sunrise!”

The villagers gasped. Even the blacksmith warned him.

“The Dark Marsh is full of illusions and hidden dangers.”

But Rowan only grinned and ran into the night.

---

The Dark Marsh was colder than Rowan expected. Mist curled around dead trees, and strange blue lights danced over the water.

Hours later, he spotted what looked like an old tower rising from the fog. At the top, glowing silver in the darkness, was the stolen Moonstone.

“There it is!” Rowan shouted excitedly.

A broken wooden path stretched across the swamp toward the tower. Beside it stood a rusted sign half-covered in vines.

Rowan didn’t stop to read it.

He sprinted onto the path.

SNAP!

One of the wooden boards shattered beneath his foot. Rowan barely grabbed a hanging rope before falling into the black swamp below, where shadow eels twisted through the water.

Breathing hard, he pulled himself back onto solid ground.

For the first time, he looked closely around him.

The sign read:

“Wise travelers study the road before racing toward the prize.”

Rowan stared at the warning silently.

Now he noticed the rotten boards, hidden gaps, and safe stones placed carefully along the sides of the swamp. He picked up a long branch and tested every step before moving forward.

Slowly, carefully, he crossed the marsh.

---

Inside the tower, the Moonstone rested on a golden pedestal beneath a cracked ceiling. Rowan rushed toward it — but stopped himself.

He remembered the bridge.

This time he looked carefully.

Tiny holes lined the floor around the pedestal. Trap darts.

Above him hung loose chains holding massive iron cages.

Another trap.

Rowan searched the room and eventually found a hidden switch behind an old torch holder. When he pressed it, the traps clicked harmlessly shut.

Only then did he take the Moonstone.

---

At sunrise, Rowan returned to Emberfall Castle. The king praised his bravery, but an old royal wizard stepped forward and asked,

“What lesson did your journey teach you?”

Rowan looked down at the glowing Moonstone in his hands.

“That rushing toward something without thinking can lead straight into danger,” he answered. “A careful step is sometimes braver than a quick leap.”

The wizard smiled warmly.

And from that day on, Rowan became known throughout Emberfall not only for his courage, but for his wisdom.

Whenever young knights grew reckless, Rowan would tell them:

“Before chasing glory, always look before you leap.”
