The Clever Tortoise and the Race Across the River.
Long ago, in a village by the river, all the animals argued over who was the wisest. One day, the mighty lion called a meeting. “We need a test of cleverness,” he roared.
The tortoise, slow and quiet, stepped forward. “I will prove my wisdom,” he said. The challenge was simple: whoever could cross the river and reach the golden mango tree first would be declared the wisest.
The rabbit, confident, jumped into the river and swam fast. The monkey swung through the trees. But the tortoise, carrying a large leaf, floated carefully across the water, using the leaf as a raft.
Halfway through, the rabbit grew tired and the monkey got distracted by fruit along the way. The tortoise, patient and steady, reached the golden mango tree first.
The lion declared, “Wisdom is not about speed or strength, but patience and cleverness.” From that day, all the animals respected the tortoise, and he became known as the cleverest creature in the village.
