Nigeria Marks International Women’s Day With Calls for Equality

Nigeria joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, with renewed calls for gender equality and greater opportunities for women. Activists, policymakers, and community leaders used the occasion to highlight the achievements of Nigerian women while drawing attention to challenges such as gender inequality and limited representation in leadership. 


Several advocacy groups organised events, discussions, and campaigns aimed at promoting women’s empowerment across different sectors including politics, business, education, and technology. Speakers at the events stressed the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for women and girls in society. 


Experts also emphasised that empowering women can significantly contribute to national development. They noted that increased female participation in governance and economic activities could help drive innovation, reduce poverty, and strengthen democratic institutions in Nigeria.

BREAKING: Anthony Joshua Involved In Road Crash In Nigeria. Two Lives Lost.

  British Nigerian boxer and former heavyweight champion,  Anthony Joshua   was involved in a road accident on Monday 29th December along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, Nigeria  Gbenga Omotosho, Lagos commissioner for information, said the crash occurred around the Shagamu interchange area of the highway. He added that the Lagos state government promptly deployed an ambulance to the scene. The Lexus SUV in which the British Nigerian boxer was said to have crashed into a stationary truck parked by the roadside. Two people driving with him in the car died on the spot according to eye witness. AJ was said to have survived with minor injuries.
