Nigerians Feel Economic Impact of War

The rising tension in the Middle East is already affecting Nigeria’s economy. Labour leaders are urging the government to introduce emergency relief measures as petrol prices continue to rise.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for tax relief, wage awards, and a cost-of-living allowance for workers. According to labour leaders, petrol prices in some areas have climbed above ₦1,170–₦1,300 per litre, worsening the cost-of-living crisis for many Nigerians.
