AFLC 2026: Mentorship Yard To Host A Foremost Nigeria Elder Statesman On Saturday.

                            



Africa Future Leaders Contest(AFLC) is a continent wild contest with a goal of raising the next generation of African Leaders. Contestants go through thirteen(13) weeks of keen contest which involves a weekly online submission of carefully designed and assigned leadership-grooming tasks. Weekly winner emerges by public votes and Judges decisions. 

In-between each task, Mentorship Yard holds. Anchored by Mrs Adebisi Adeagbo Rachael, it helps groom the young leaders better. Elimination stage starts after week seven. Final winner gets a sum of One million(N1000,000) only alongside other benefits.

This week's Mentorship Yard hosts a very important personality.  A former Director of Administration to the Federal government of Nigeria under President Olusegun Obasanjo, a lover of Nigeria and passionate seeker of its wellness,he will be interacting with these young leaders on the topic: The Nigeria we met. SHORT PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF

PASTOR OLUWAGBEMIGA GABRIEL AKILAPA

Pastor Oluwagbemiga Gabriel Akilapa was born in 1951 in Ibadan, Oyo State, to Pa Abraham Bajuwon Akilapa and Mama Ruth Adunola Akilapa.


EDUCATION

Pastor Akilapa began his education at Christ Apostolic Church Primary School, Oniyanrin, Ibadan, where he benefited from the Free Primary Education programme from 1957 to 1963.

He subsequently attended Ogbomoso Grammar School (1964–1968) and Ilesa Grammar School (1970–1971).

He obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Lagos (1973–1976). In 1990–1991, he proceeded to the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), United Kingdom, where he obtained an M.Sc. in Health Planning and Financing as a British Chevening Scholar, funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom.

He also studied at the Redeemed Christian Theological College, Abuja Campus (1999–2000), where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Theology.


PUBLIC SERVICE CAREER

Pastor Akilapa had a distinguished 34-year career in the Nigerian Federal Public Service, from 1977 to 2011, serving meritoriously across several Federal Ministries and government institutions, including:

Ministry of Defence

Ministry of Education

Ministry of Health

Ministry of Trade

Federal Capital Territory Administration

Ministry of Culture and Tourism

The State House, including the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Presidential Villa


He rose through the ranks and retired from the Federal Public Service in 2011 as Director of Administration (Presidency).

During his years in public service, he was privileged to participate in numerous professional courses, capacity-building programmes, seminars and conferences, both in Nigeria and abroad. He also served on several important government committees, including committees relating to the National Health Insurance Scheme and National Population, and served as Secretary to various Presidential Committees.

His career reflects a strong commitment to public administration, national development, leadership and service to humanity.
