A RENEWED HOPE.
The village of Ndalu had not seen rain in nearly a year. The once-green fields had turned brown, the river had shrunk to a narrow stream, and many families wondered how they would survive another season.
Among them was a young farmer named Kofi. His neighbors had abandoned their farms, believing nothing would ever grow again. Some sold their tools, while others left the village in search of work elsewhere.
Kofi almost gave up too. One evening, he sat outside his small house, staring at his cracked field. Just then, his elderly grandmother walked over carrying a tiny cloth bag.
"What is that?" Kofi asked.
"Seeds," she replied with a smile.
Kofi sighed. "Grandmother, the ground is too dry. These seeds will never grow."
She placed the bag in his hands and said, "Hope is like a seed. It may lie hidden beneath hard ground, but when the right season comes, it springs to life."
Though doubtful, Kofi cleared his field the next morning. He repaired the broken fence, tilled the dry soil, and planted every seed. His neighbors laughed at him.
"You're wasting your time," they mocked.
Days passed. Nothing happened.
Then one cool afternoon, dark clouds gathered over the hills. Thunder rolled across the sky, and for the first time in months, rain poured over the village.
Within weeks, tiny green shoots appeared across Kofi's farm. Before long, his land was filled with healthy crops swaying in the wind.
The same neighbors who had laughed now stood amazed. They asked Kofi how he had known the rain would come.
He smiled and answered, "I didn't. But I knew that if I stopped planting, even the rain couldn't help me."
That harvest became the largest the village had seen in years. Inspired by Kofi's perseverance, the other farmers returned to their fields, believing once again that tomorrow could be better than today.
From that season forward, whenever someone in Ndalu faced disappointment, the elders would say:
"Keep planting your seeds. Hope always finds those who prepare for its arrival."
Moral: Renewed hope is not waiting for life to change before taking action. It is having the courage to keep preparing, believing, and moving forward even when the future is uncertain. Those who refuse to give up are often the first to witness new beginnings.
