These Girls Were Picked Up By Wealthy People Who Take Them To Places They Want - Hisbah
A report from Punch on December 28, 2025, reveals that the Kano State Hisbah Board has detained nine people, consisting of eight young women and one man, for allegedly participating in prostitution during a year-end operation. The individuals, commonly known as “Good Evening Girls,” were arrested on Friday night in various key areas of Kano as part of the agency’s initiative to enforce Shari’a law .Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, the Deputy Commander General of the Board, provided details about the operation, explaining the suspected approach used by the individuals. He stated, “These young girls are often recruited by affluent men who take them to desired locations for entertainment, compensating them between N5,000 and N30,000.” The detained girls, said to be aged between 15 and 20, admitted to engaging in prostitution for a period, according to the Hisbah representative. The operations focused on certain streets known for such activities, such as Zoo Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, and Sultan Road. Aminuddeen emphasized that the board would persist in its efforts to identify and arrest offenders and urged parents to play a role in the proper upbringing of their children to prevent issues like prostitution. He mentioned that after investigations, the suspects would face charges in court. This action illustrates the Hisbah Board’s continuous effort to uphold public morality in Kano State, frequently resulting in arrests and legal action against those accused of engaging in activities forbidden by Islamic law. The operation also sheds light on the socio-economic challenges that lead young individuals to sex work, even as authorities prioritize punitive measures.
