Sokoto Insecurity: Sultan Has Come Out Blazing And Making So Much Noise , Now Terrorists Are In His Domain -Eze Eluchie

Legal luminary and political affairs commentator, Barrister Eze Eluchie has criticized the perceived silence of traditional leadership following the recent bombing of an ISIS terrorist hideout in Sokoto State by the United States, ordered by US President Donald Trump.Eluchie made the remarks during an interview from 11:33 on Voice of the People TV, where he reacted to reports that American forces carried out a targeted strike against ISIS elements operating within Sokoto. According to him, the incident has exposed serious gaps in local leadership responsibility and moral authority.“This same Sultan has come out blazing and making so much noise, now the terrorists are in his domain and he has not done much,” Eluchie said, referring to Sultan Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto. The senior lawyer argued that traditional and religious leaders often speak strongly on national political issues, yet appear restrained or inactive when security threats emerge within their immediate domains. He questioned why decisive action or public condemnation was not evident when terrorists allegedly operated from within Sokoto State.Eluchie emphasized that traditional institutions hold immense influence and are critical to early warning systems, community mobilization, and intelligence sharing. According to him, extremist groups cannot thrive in a community without some level of tolerance, fear, or neglect. While acknowledging the effectiveness of the US airstrike in neutralizing the ISIS hideout, Eluchie warned that foreign military intervention should not replace local accountability. He stressed that Nigeria must confront the uncomfortable reality that terrorism often flourishes where leadership fails to act decisively. The political commentator also called on the federal government to investigate how ISIS operatives were able to establish a foothold in Sokoto, urging authorities to examine the roles of local institutions, security agencies, and community leaders.
