Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that Pedri suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Slavia Prague.
The Spanish midfielder was substituted in the 61st minute of the fixture, which Barcelona won 4–2 at Fortuna Arena, boosting their chances of finishing in the top eight of the Champions League table.
“I don’t know exactly how he is, but it’s a hamstring problem. We will have to wait until tomorrow to see how he goes, but it’s not good news,” Flick told reporters during his post-match press conference.
Barcelona are expected to provide an official update before the end of the week, but according to AS, Pedri is likely to be sidelined for at least three weeks.
If the three-week absence is confirmed, Pedri would miss five Barcelona matches, including their final Champions League group stage game at home against Copenhagen, league fixtures against Real Oviedo, Elche, and Mallorca, and a Copa del Rey quarter-final clash with Albacete.
In addition, Barcelona will be without Frenkie de Jong for the Copenhagen fixture, as he serves a suspension after picking up a yellow card late in the match against Slavia Prague.
