Historical Fact
Auguste Comte (1798–1857) was a French philosopher best known as the founder of sociology and positivism. He believed that society should be studied using scientific methods, just like the natural sciences. Comte introduced the Law of Three Stages, which explains human intellectual development as progressing through the theological stage, the metaphysical stage, and finally the positive (scientific) stage. He argued that social order and progress depend on scientific knowledge and social cooperation. Comte also emphasized the importance of social institutions in maintaining stability. His ideas laid the foundation for modern sociology and greatly influenced later social thinkers.
