Nigeria, has witnessed heightened tension as the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) intensify their protest against the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, over unresolved welfare and labour issues. The ongoing industrial action, which began in mid-January, has disrupted public services and shut down government-owned schools across the FCT, leaving thousands of residents affected.
The situation escalated further after a viral video surfaced online showing the FCT Minister being pursued by protesting JUAC and NUT members, who loudly chanted demands and attempted to confront his convoy during an official movement within Abuja. The footage has sparked widespread reactions on social media, highlighting growing public frustration over unpaid entitlements, promotion arrears, and poor working conditions.
Despite official efforts to halt the strike, union leaders insist the action will continue until their demands are fully addressed, keeping Abuja at the center of national attention
