A DETERMINED MIND

In a small town on the outskirts of Lagos, lived a 16-year-old girl named Amara. She dreamed of becoming an engineer. But there was one problem — everyone told her it was “too hard,” especially for someone from her background.
Her school had no proper science lab. Sometimes, there wasn’t even electricity. While others complained, Amara made a decision: She would not let her environment decide her future.
She borrowed old textbooks. She watched free lessons at a neighbor’s shop that had a generator. When she failed her first physics test, she didn’t cry for long — she studied twice as hard.
Her friends laughed when she said she would build machines someday. But Amara had something stronger than doubt — she had determination.
Years later, after countless sleepless nights and repeated attempts at scholarship exams, she earned a fully funded engineering scholarship.
When asked how she did it, she smiled and said:
"My circumstances were loud, but my determination was louder."
