WHY THE MOON ONLY COMES OUT IN THE NIGHT.
Long ago, when the world was still young, the Sun and the Moon lived together in the sky. They were close friends and traveled across the heavens side by side.
The Sun was bright, cheerful, and full of energy. Wherever he went, flowers opened, birds sang, and people worked happily in the fields.
The Moon was gentle and quiet. She loved listening to stories, watching the rivers sparkle, and helping travelers find their way.
At first, everything seemed perfect. But there was a problem.
Whenever the Moon tried to shine, nobody noticed her. The Sun's brilliant light was so strong that it outshone her silver glow. The stars couldn't be seen either.
One evening, the Moon sat sadly beside a cloud.
"Why are you unhappy?" asked the Wind.
"No one ever sees me," replied the Moon. "The Sun is so bright that my light disappears."
The Wind carried her words across the sky, and soon the Sun heard them.
The Sun felt terrible.
"I never meant to hide your beauty," he said. "The world deserves to see your light too."
The Sun thought for a long time. Then he came up with a plan.
"From tomorrow onward," he said, "I will watch over the world during the day. When my work is done, I will rest beyond the horizon. Then you can have the sky all to yourself."
The Moon smiled for the first time in many days.
The next evening, the Sun slowly dipped below the edge of the world. As darkness spread across the land, the Moon rose into the sky.
People looked up in amazement.
"What a beautiful silver lantern!" they said.
The stars twinkled around her like diamonds, and together they lit the night.
The Moon finally had her own time to shine, while the Sun had his.
From that day on, the Sun ruled the day and the Moon ruled the night. They remained the best of friends, taking turns watching over the world so that each could be admired for their unique gifts.
And that, according to the old tale, is why the Moon only comes out at night. It is her special time to shine.
